The 2024 Agbeyewa Cup reached its exciting conclusion as Omuo-Ore High School claimed victory over Government College, Ado-Ekiti, in a closely contested final. Held at the Ekiti State stadium, this year’s tournament reinforced Agbeyewa’s commitment to empowering local youth and fostering talent through sports.
The thrilling final saw Omuo-Ore High School edge out their rivals with a decisive goal, earning them the grand prize of one million naira, a trophy, and gold medals. Government College, Ado-Ekiti, took home five hundred thousand naira and silver medals as the first runner-up, while Ifaki Grammar School, securing third place, was awarded two hundred fifty thousand naira and bronze medals.
Reflecting on the success of this year’s tournament, Agbeyewa’s Community Communication Manager, Alhaji Dauda Lawal, highlighted the impact of the Agbeyewa Cup in Ekiti State: “This tournament is more than a competition; it’s a platform to discover new talents and create opportunities for future stars. We’re incredibly proud of the youth who showcased skill, sportsmanship, and teamwork.”
The tournament, inspired by Ekiti’s legacy in grassroots sports, brought together over 150 schools and culminated in a spectacular finale attended by esteemed dignitaries, royal fathers, and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports Development.
